Overview

This project targets the cities of Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, and their peri-urban municipalities to reduce vulnerability to extreme heat waves.

Objectives

  • Integrate Heat Action Plans (HAPs) into municipal policies and budgets.
  • Implement nature-based solutions: urban forestry, agroforestry corridors, shaded markets, reflective roofs, cooling shelters, and green spaces.
  • Develop demonstration sites for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) in partnership with research institutions.
  • Pilot innovative community financing mechanisms (local funds, microcredit).
  • Strengthen the capacities of women, youth, informal workers, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
